The stage of erecting the walls of the house is no less responsible than pouring the foundation. Many Russians are not affordable for expensive building materials, so the owners in the bulk use foam blocks or shells. The characteristics of these materials and the economic feasibility of their application will be discussed in this article.
Penoblock
Penoblock – “brainchild” of the chemical industry. It is made by pressing in the workshops of mini-enterprises and is a mixture of cement, sand and foaming agent in certain proportions. The foaming agent loosens concrete and makes the finished block large, porous, light and very warm.
The shellout is a mountain lime rock, its deposits are formed for millennia. His homeland is the Republic of Crimea. Fragments of shells are cut out of the thickness of the stone, have different density and size. This is an environmentally friendly material with a porous surface, very warm and easy to work.
Both of these materials are widely used in the construction of cottages, outbuildings, fences, and sometimes as cladding.
The main advantage of foam block is that it is widely available, relatively inexpensive, is characterized by increased thermal conductivity and sound insulation. From foam block, you can quickly “drive out” even a two -story house, because the blocks have a fairly large size. The disadvantages of this material are obvious and undeniable. Firstly, its “synthetic” past does not give rest to many scientists, and secondly, foam block is most often produced by the efforts of private entrepreneurs, and this does not guarantee that the latter have observed all the conditions of production technology. If after several years the blocks begin to crumble, there will be no complaints of claims. And there is a lot of solution for foam concrete masonry, because often the block is somehow trimmed and has unequal edges.
Buying shells is not easy. First you need to place an order and either wait for delivery from the Crimea, or rely on a supplier company that can sell goods that have been stale for a long time. Further, on the one hand, the porosity of the block improves its characteristics, and on the other, it significantly increases the amount of cement mortar during laying. The herald is very hygroscopic, so the walls of the building must be faced as soon as possible, there is a risk of destruction of construction.
When choosing a particular material for laying the walls of a residential building, it is necessary to answer a number of important questions, the answers to which will help the owner decide. First you need to figure out the construction of the construction in what climatic conditions, because for the southern regions with warm and dry climate, shells are ideal, and for areas where it often rains and frosts are fierce – foamoblock is more desirable. Further, it is important to soberly evaluate the construction budget, that is, there is enough funds to conduct cladding at the same time as the laying of the walls, because it is obvious that the foam block, unlike the shellout, can remain “naked” for a long time. And of course, you should take into account the possibilities and speed of the supply of quality material – it is possible to buy a great foam block much easier than an overseas shell.
For many Russians, the issue of environmental safety of the material plays a paramount role. If a residential building is being built where children will live, it is advisable to purchase, albeit an impractical, but “clean” shell.
It becomes clear that the issue of choosing a material for laying walls is complicated, multifaceted and depends on many factors. It is important to compare the quality and price of products, safety and practicality – these criteria will help to make the right decision.
